Climate Change Adaptation (CCA)

According to the EU Taxonomy Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2020/852), climate change adaptation is formally defined as “the process of adjustment to actual and expected climate change and its impacts.” (Article 2(6) of the Taxonomy Regulation). Additionally, the European Environment Agency (EEA) (EU communications) describes adaptation as “anticipating adverse effects of climate change and taking action to prevent or minimise damage, or leverage arising opportunities.”

Climate change adaptation involves adjustments in natural or human systems in response to actual or expected climate impacts, to moderate harm or exploit beneficial opportunities.
