REGILIENCE+ has launched a new series of Open Training Sessions designed to help regional and local authorities strengthen their climate resilience through practical knowledge, tested solutions and peer exchange.
Titled Contributing to Climate Resilience, the five-webinar series brings together public authorities, supporting organisations and experts from across Europe. According to REGILIENCE+, the sessions will share tools, case studies and knowledge products while encouraging dialogue between sectors and regions facing similar climate-related challenges.
The first REGILIENCE+ session focused on building resilience in the agricultural sector. Experts presented approaches involving agroclimatic indicators, climate-risk information, improved water management, nature-based solutions, the conservation of local crop varieties and financial mechanisms that can help farmers manage climate risks.
Experiences were shared by representatives of SOLAGRO in France, the Navarre Institute of Agri-Food Technologies and Infrastructure in Spain, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region through the EMBRACER project, and Agrifondo Mutualistico Veneto e Friuli Venezia Giulia in Italy.
REGILIENCE+ reports that one of the central conclusions from the discussion was the importance of connecting scientific knowledge with farmers’ practical experience. Climate adaptation measures are more likely to succeed when farmers and local stakeholders are involved throughout the process and when information and decision-support tools remain accessible and relevant to their needs.
Each webinar in the REGILIENCE+ series will also introduce a dedicated knowledge product. These resources are intended to support continued learning and help participants share the lessons from each session within their organisations and regions. Materials from the first webinar, including its recording, presentations and a knowledge product explaining why resilient agriculture matters, are available on the REGILIENCE+ website.
REGILIENCE+ works in close synergy with the Mission Implementation Platform MIP4Adapt and other projects within the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change. TiCCA4DANU welcomes opportunities to share knowledge and resources across this wider project ecosystem. Mutual support between Mission initiatives helps make practical expertise more accessible and enables cities and regions to learn from solutions being developed across Europe.
